With a season high of 35 points, Becky Hammon, lead her Silver Stars to their first appearance in the WNBA Finals. The Silver Stars beat the Los Angeles Sparks in game 3 to win the WNBA Western Conference.
“I just try to go up there and knock them down,” Hammon said. “It’s just repetition. It’s for those moments you work so hard as a player.”
The Silver Stars forced Game 3 when Sophia Young hit a turnaround 14-foot jumper that banked off the board and the rim and fell in at the buzzer on Saturday.
“We come back when things seem impossible,” Hammon said.

Young’s 14-ft turnaround jumper at the buzzer lifted the Silver Stars to 67-66 win over the Los Angeles Sparks and forced a decisive game 3 for the Western Conference championship and the advancement to the WNBA Finals.
There was no question in Coach Hughes’ mind of who would be taking that do-or-die shot; Sophia Young.
“She’s just a player you can get a lot from in those situations,” Hughes said. “It’s not about the play, it’s about the player.”
